MEET SABRINA HERNANDEZ CANO
I discovered a passion for food and wellness in the third grade as an overweight kid with a strong desire to lose weight and be fit. I worked in my mom’s restaurant, which she ran out of our home. Surrounded by food all day was the ultimate temptation and eventually the catalyst that empowered me to develop an instinct for portion control that leads to my weight loss. My desire to gain control over poor eating habits changed my life. I no longer saw food as the enemy but began to create and nurture a point of view that made food my ally. The results were so life changing for me, that I developed a fascination for nutrition. This led to a lifetime of compassion towards others who also had a desire to live well.
My journey in providing nutrition education has led me to a long career in medical nutrition. I have traveled the world educating and addressing important nutrition issues. In 2000, I set out to create a super nutritious snack that tasted great. I spent years creating and recreating recipes until I found the perfect balance of optimal nutrition and great taste.
Hummingbirds are always in search of the best tasting nutrition so it seemed fitting to name our bar Hummingwell. Think chocolate chip cookies meet biscotti, dark chocolate vanilla almond. The texture was also a priority so it’s soft and chewy and perfectly crispy. It has all natural, organic ingredients, with 22 vitamins and minerals, gluten free, and as much calcium as a glass of milk.
